MARCH 2008 ~ NEWSLETTER

In this Issue ...
A Note from J.M. Snyder

Yes, I know I said I'd have the first chapter of a monthly story for you, and I'm so very sorry that I do not, but I have a good excuse (or two). I had a lot of deadlines to meet this past month, and once I had a little time to breathe, of course my damn muse gets me thinking about everything but the story I wanted to write. So I do plan to write one, yes, and I do plan to post the chapters online monthly once they're written. All I ask is for a little patience, please!

This month I plan to focus on historicals. I have two short stories in mind (under 20k in length) that I hope to write before March 31st, one set in the Old West and the other set in Colonial Java. I have another short piece I want to write to submit to an anthology (this will be something different for me, so I'm excited about it), and if I get the chance, I'd like to get a head start on stories I have to write by the end of April.

Nothing like staying busy, eh?

When the King of Pharr is lost in battle, his son Amery becomes regent in his father's stead. The royal advisers pressure him to take the crown and assume the throne, which would mean taking a queen, as well. Amery doesn't want to do that because he's deeply in love with one of his knights, Sir Tovin Raimus, from the southland.

But when barbarians breach the northern border, Amery must choose between duty to his kingdom and the love of his life.

New Reviews
Afflicted
"A very short story, but you have to read it, it's heartbreaking." ~ Reader Review by Elisa Rolle

Best Gay Romance 2008
"Some of the tales, such as J.M. Snyder's exploration of love and memory, are wonderfully emotive and you may well find yourself shedding the odd tear over a number of tenderly calibrated moments." ~ Boyz Magazine

No Apologies
"A short story but completely satisfying and guaranteed to leave a smile on your face, No Apologies will touch your heart and engage your emotions right from page one and have you routing for a happy ending." ~ Sensual Erotic Romance & Erotica

Undertow
"One of Snyder's better works. Riveting and sensuous, it takes the reader through myth, legend, and the love of two people that just might have the possibility to overcome all the odds and treachery a series of twists of fate can hurl at them. Pick up a copy today, and revel in the erotic done right." ~ Romance at Heart Magazine

Working Man series
"Snyder has brought to light stories that are sometimes fanciful, futuristic, sometimes too real, but mostly wonderfully crafted stories of love between two people who really do have feelings for one another. On the odd occassion it could be just sex, but only as a prelude to something more." ~ Romance at Heart Magazine

Coming Soon

Here's a quick look ahead at what's on the horizon for me in the next few months:

April 2008
  • Conflict of Interest ~ When Alex Hitchner signs up to volunteer at a local youth shelter, he is not prepared to be introduced to Jamie Owens, an 18 year old boy with a bad attitude. Just two years younger than Alex, Jamie is nervy, precocious, and damn sexy, to boot. But Alex sees himself as a mentor to Jamie, someone to look up to, someone to prove to the kid that being a gay man does not mean casual sex in crowded clubs. He tries desperately to keep his distance, both physically and emotionally, but Jamie becomes a part of his life in a way Alex doesn't expect. Alex must choose between giving into his desires or leaving the program ~ and Jamie ~ behind.
  • Lunch Break ~ Book 8 of Working Man. Nick works as a stock boy at a local grocery store. A chance encounter with a young businessman named Kevin leads to a lunch date, and the promise of so much more.
  • Two Dogs Position ~ Book 5 of The Positions of Love. Doggy style: one of Vic's favorite positions. It brings out the animal in him. Literally. When Matt throws a dinner party for a few friends, Vic's heightened senses pick up sounds of a struggle in the apartment above his, putting all thoughts of celebration on hold.

  • May 2008
  • With This Ring ~ When a local research scientist contacts Matt with a solution to his little "problem," Vic is willing to try the cure and lose his superhero abilities for his lover's peace of mind. But the scientist has an agenda of his own. Can Vic protect Matt, even without his super strength or their mental bond?
  • Best Gay Bondage Erotica ~ Paperback anthology from Cleis Press which includes my story, "Mastering Stefan."
  • Speed Trap ~ Book 7 of Working Man, from Aspen Mountain.
  • Cowboy Position ~ Book 6 of The Positions of Love, from Amber Allure.
